The Truth Project

June 26, 2008

I have been running the Truth Project DVD Teachings series with 5 different groups thus far and it has been an exhilirating experience. Go to the website at www.thetruthproject.org to find out what I am talking about. Basically it has 12 worldview tours and meant for christians.

Tonight I had 18 people sitting through Lesson 4: Theology – Who is God? The discussion after the Video Session by Dr Del Tackett was great!! Much of the modern society has either discarded the notion of God or at best God was irrelevant for most part of this waking hours until maybe some “unfortunate” events causes them to sit back and reflect.

Do you know that without the awareness of the presence of this transcendent God or to disregard the notion of a Supreme Being, a Creator does give people liberty …..

….to do what they like, however they like, and whenever they like because without God there is no foundation for ethics – no ultimate foundation for right and wrong. That leads one to believe that morality is what the majority holds or believe in, or shaped by the culture around them.

….pursue their own happiness; to reach their own self-actualization without regard of others’ need. Personal choices become the order of the day and not what ought to be.

….to live by this notion that MIGHT makes RIGHT so if one has power one has the right to do what one wishes. Or no one can tell me what to do or how to live “rightly”.

At the bottomline it is what Dr Ravi Zacharias used to say: “…we become Hitler (power-crazy) or Hugh Hufner (erotic-maniac) – clench-fist or phallus!”

Well…there’s more to talk about BUT I shall just leave it as it is right now.

AN INTERESTING POST BY SARAH!

June 21, 2008

I was reading an interesting post by Sarah in her blog and she wrote about peace. I would like to quote some of the things she wrote and let you think through the stuff she raised about peace….

ok, so english literature in school in the topic “the lake isle of innisfree” was what that really probed me to post.

PEACE – the quality of peace is hard to find. Our mind is always thinking, our hearts are always feeling. different ppl find peace in different conditions, different times, different places.

in our lifes nowadays, peace is hard to find, with school work, rows with parents, misunderstandings with friends, and for some of us, maybe problems with boyfrined/girlfriend. all of these penetrating out heart and soul and mind, sometimes bring us problems and confusion, tears and pain, making hard for us to find OUR blissful peace within ourselves.

we wouldnt be able to “escape” to “innisfree” like william butler yeats did right, what with the noise level of classmates, teachers, parents, television, traffic and our blasting music.

i wonder how life would be without all these problems. what would life be if we humans didnt have to THINK so much. how would our lifes be if we could find peace whenever we want.

well, i guess i’ll never find out, cause life keeps going on and on, never stopping, ups and downs comes and goes. tears and laughter each passing in its pace, taking life in in its stride. life will not stop until the day we shut our eyelids forever.

and with our ever-moving-life. problems arise, heartbreak, tears, pain and hurt. its unavoidable. so dont keep on focusing on the things ppl do or do not do that hurt you cause life’s too short..if you feel like you need to talk to someone, then do so, maybe then you’ll find our PEACE there.

Well…what do you think? Guess how old is she? She’s just 13 going on to 14 this year!! Now that’s what I mean by people who think and reflect rather seriously on life and reality!!

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK (2)

June 19, 2008

….I notice many young people listening to secular songs (songs that is not church-based/worship songs) most of the time. What is going on…..?

….Parents seem unable (no strength) to control their children; allowing them to do what they want and get away with a lot of things we were frowned upon when we were young.

….Parents allowing their children to go to the mall frequently, watch movies frequently, hang out with friends at Starbucks and MacD but threathen to stop them from coming to the youth service when their grades dropped.

….Parents stopping their children from attending youth service but to stay at home due to exams inadvertently (unconciously) ended watching TV with them!! (it happened before!)

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK

June 14, 2008

….many young people in church are not even thinking much about serving God – giving up all and go all the way for God like doing theology in seminary to prepare to be missionary or pastoring instead of the regular engineering, IT, marketing and management or some professional courses.

….many young people in church are pretty “vulgar” in their speech; using words that make their parents cringed with disgust and full of distase. I shall not write down those nasty terms.

….many young people “fake’ their faith and their walk with God. What do you think has gone wrong with our young people.

….many parents spent more time and more money on their children’s secular education and not too much concern of their spiritual health and education.

Think about these issues. Give your response.
